Encyclopedia Bimblesnaff: Adek

The blinded seer of the cast out bandits.

Entry: Adek
Series: Neverlasting
Origin: Neverlasting
Generation: 4th
Created: c. 2004

To see the face of a Lord is considered a blessing, but to see their True Face, this is a feat no mortal has accomplished. To see this is to learn The Truth of life, time, and the ways of the universe. Adek possessed a ravenous lust for knowledge, never able to satisfy its desire. This drove it to do many things that most would never consider no matter the reward. The one thing it had not obtained in its years of research was the forsaken knowledge, The Truth. Years were spent in formulating the perfect scheme. It spent over a Grey Year slinking into a Lord's shrine, camoflauging itself with its race's ability and crawling in bit by bit. After a great deal of time, it finally reached the heart of the shrine, and after longer time the Lord finally let his guard down and assumed his true face. Before The Truth could be known, he detected the intruder and struck out at it, scarring its eye shut.

Despite his efforts, what was seen was enough to give Adek the ability to know fate. In its timeless years, it sits patiently with the Neverlasting, guiding them to where their next return is to be made. It continues this role until the destruction of Yntra at which point there is nothing left to be seen.

History:

Adek was created to expand the cast of Eizw characters that then existed in Legends of Idos. Unlike most of the other fabricated races, pre-existing characters did not transition smoothly into being gas-slugs. Also in his attempt, a different body type for the mollusk men was used, using a much broader, more hunched over model. It was a precision character, made to fill a purpose with no pre- or post-shifting.
