Encyclopedia Bimblesnaff: Anph

Scholar of black magicks.

Entry: Anph
Series: Dungeon Delver
Origin: Rumbl-o-Rama
Generation: 4th
Created: 2004-11-22

Elgo Anph, the Grave Magus, is a student of the most vile and revered arcana known on this and the next world, that of death. She was not fooled into entering The Tower Into Hell, Living Castle Itnecsa, but rather sought to learn from it. Its existance betrayed the life cycle and all that she had learned in her years. She hoped to acquire the knowledge of its being. If nothing else, she intended to use her powers over those things not truly alive to end the hellish abomination.

She uses her Grim Tome to rise skeletons from the earth and spirits from the air, entities that she sends after her pursuers while braving the Tower. If nothing else, she uses the book itself to smash into her enemies.

History:

Anph was originally created to pad out the Rumbl-o-Rama roster for the then planned game effort. Basic classes and characters to epitomize those roles were needed. Anph served as the Vagabond archetype. However, before this, it was the part of the scholar that she played, and she was a he. Anph would go on to appear in a few Drowned In Nog solo RoR stories where she played the part of the left out, forgotten person. When the RoR/Board Game merger was stopped due to the game idea fizzling, RoR returned to its wacky roots and shed the added weight. These cast off characters were readily absorbed into the then recently conceived Dungeon Delver where little change was needed for a switch.
